Ron Guyton places miniature American flags underneath the flagpole at the intersection of Holly Hill Drive and Sullivant Avenue on Sept. 11. Guyton volunteers his time regularly manicuring the Holly Hill median, including mowing its grass, treating for weeds, painting the curb and replacing the flag every year. A resident of the neighborhood since 1959, he said he owes his service to the community. There has been a long line of neighborhood volunteers who care for the median, Guyton said, he took over for neighbor Paul Doughty.
