February events at Darby Park


The following are events scheduled at Battelle Darby Creek Metro Park during the month of February. Battelle Darby Creek Metro Park is located at 1775 Darby Creek Dr., Galloway, in southwestern Franklin County.

•Mammals of Ohio - Feb. 4 from 1 to 4 p.m.

See skin, scat, skulls and skeletons of Ohio’s past and present mammals. Meet at Cedar Ridge Lodge.

•Owls of February - Feb. 5 at 5:30 p.m.

Try to lure in owls for a closer look. Meet at Indian Ridge Bulletin Board.

•Full snow moon - Feb. 7 at 6 p.m.

Enjoy a fast-paced four-mile walk through woods and prairies. Meet at the naturalist office.

•Photo basics: sunset photography - Feb. 8 at 7 p.m.

Learn tips for capturing exciting sunset images. Meet at Cedar Ridge Lodge.

•Coyotes - Feb. 11 at 6 p.m.

Try to entice these wary and wild canines using recordings and calls. Meet at the naturalist office.

•Preschoolers: eagles - Feb. 14 at 9:30 or 11 a.m. and Feb. 17 from 11 a.m. or 1 p.m.

Learn about our national bird through story, song and craft. Meet at Cedar Ridge Lodge.

•Bison at Twilight - Feb. 18 at 5:30 p.m.

Enjoy a two-mile hike to view North America’s largest land mammal. Meet at the naturalist office.

•Metro Five-0: level 3 night hike - Feb. 19 at 6 p.m.

Enjoy a two-mile hike through the Darby Creek Valley. Age 50 and older Meet at Pleasant Valley Bulletin Board, 9137 State Route 62.

•39th annual winter hike series - Feb. 25 at 10 a.m.

See the bison as you enjoy a two, four or six-mile trek along the Greenway Trail. Meet at the naturalist office.

•Signs of spring - Feb. 26 at 1 p.m.

Enjoy a one-mile hike and search for plants and animals reawakening. Meet at the naturalist office.
