The work of local photographer Bryant Riley will be on display at Gallery On High Feb. 2-26.
The gallery is located at 5 E. High St., London, in the city block east of the Madison County Courthouse. Hours are: Thursday, 11 a.m.-2 p.m.; Friday, 5-8 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.; and Sunday, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Admission is free.
An artist reception, slated for 5 to 8 p.m. Feb. 3, is open to the public.
Riley has pursued an interest in creative art photography since learning how to process black and white film in his youth. His subject material includes patterns, texture and line found in natural environments, building structures and found objects, as well as photographs of scenic landscapes. He studied the writings of Ansel Adams regarding light values, photographic exposure control, print density and contrast.
Professionally, Riley worked in the field of environmental regulatory compliance and engineering for industrial businesses in central and southwest Ohio. He and his wife, Sandy, live in Oak Run Township south of London. They have been Madison County residents for 40 years.
“My primary intent for the exhibit is to display my work to share with the community, friends and family. From any sale of the prints, I will reimburse myself for cost of materials and donate the net proceeds to Visions Of Hope,” Riley said.
Gallery On High is a sponsor of Visions of Hope, a program designed to give a “lift up” to single mothers and their children. Lift Up On High is a four-unit apartment building, one unit of which is reserved for a caregiver who serves as a 24/7 on-site problem solver. The other three units are for single-mother families.
Visions of Hope works closely with county family advocates to connect families that were otherwise homeless with the Lift Up program, helping them to regain independence. In addition to a furnished apartment, the program provides resources for babysitting and continuing education, as well as a community that enables the families to support one another.
