Georgian Heights hosts Math and Science Extravazanza

Louie the Lighting Bug joins the students of Georgian Heights Elementary School for their Math and Science Extravazanza on Jan. 24 at the old Wedgewood Building. The event featured presentations by science oriented organizations throughout Franklin County, the Star Lab, a science fair and Ohio Wildlife Center.
The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team educates children on the tools they use in their job. They explained the science behind the non-lethal weapons used for riot control and maintaining peace.
Lt. Ed Schillig of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office Dive Team explains the equipment used for evidence recovery and emergency rescue.
Science projects demonstrating the scientific method are displayed in the cafeteria. The children chose experiements ranging from paper airplanes, to how water effects gummy bears.
