Tomato Festival seeking queen nominations
The Reynoldsburg Tomato Festival is seeking nominations for its Tomato Queen contest.
The contestant must be 16 years old by Aug. 19, a high school junior or senior in the 2011-2012 school year and reside with parent or guardian within the Reynoldsburg School District. The Tomato Queen is a highly prestigious festival tradition that began in 1966.
The teen selected as the Tomato Queen travels to fairs and festivals throughout central Ohio, representing the people of Reynoldsburg and promoting the Tomato Festival.
This year’s contest will be held Aug. 14 and 20, culminating with the on-stage competition at 3 p.m. Aug. 20 at Huber Park in Reynoldsburg. Nominations must include the nominee’s name, address, telephone number, email address, date of birth and school. Past candidates are eligible and welcome to be nominated.
Nomination forms are online at www.ReynoldsburgTomatoFestival.org and must be emailed to Robin Baker at tomato.royalty@att.net, or mailed/delivered to Michael Motz at 1819 Chimney Hill Court, Reynoldsburg on or before Aug. 7 to be considered for entry.
Self nominations are welcomed and encouraged. Contestants will be required to attend a meeting Aug. 8 to review the contest and program expectations. The official rules and regulations for the queen, attendant and contestants are located at www.ReynoldsburgTomatoFestival.org.
This year’s Tomato Festival will take place from 4 to 10 p.m. Aug. 19 and from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Aug. 20 at Huber Park on Davidson Drive.
