Zachary Dennis of Southwest Columbus graduated from the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Junior Cadet Program after training June 27-July 1. Dennis was one of 37 junior cadet participants selected from applicants who attended Buckeye Boys and Girls State in early June. The Junior Cadet Program is designed to give young people better insight into the challenges faced by law enforcement officers and enables them to experience a typical week at the training academy. Cadets slept in dormitories, dined in the cafeterias, and gained knowledge in the realms of crash investigation, self-defense tactics, K-9 operations, building searches, etc. Dennis attends Franklin Heights High School and is the son of Ed and Kim Dennis.
