Arson burns down vacant home
A two-bedroom vacant property at 253 S. Richardson Ave was caught ablaze through an act of arson June 4 around 8 p.m.
Fire could be seen from the second floor and was spreading throughout the building upon the arrival of fire companies from Franklin Township and Columbus Division of Fire (CDF).
Two firefighters were injured during the fire.
Franklin Township Lieutenant Chris Grile and Columbus Firefighter Richard Depasquale received minor injuries to their hands and were transported to Mount Carmel Hospital, where they were treated and released back on duty.
According to an email sent by CDF Battalion Chief Michael Fowler, the property was a total loss. The fire is still under investigation.
